2020.11.23 02:26 ignaposts [Thank You] You guys are amazing

Yes, you are.
I'm slowly gaining control of my life again and organizing all the beautiful mail you've sent me. I used to be in such a bad mental state back then, that I would stress out because of grammar, spelling and being the perfect brat I'm not, and made a lot of unfinished drafts that are all over the place. I am really, really sorry for that.

u/HoneyGirlLZ Thanks for the Vancouver postcard. Ohhh, how I wish I could travel to Canada! My two sisters did an english course there but I got so good with English by myself and so bad at graduating at anything, I never got the “graduation gift” that was some sort of tradition. Wait... I haven't actually graduated yet....
u/ImOkReally Thank you so much for this wonderful piece of mail. Your envelopes are just so amazing, they feel like cards themselves. I wish I could decorate like that, but I am very insecure and never make up my mind with my designs. I love the colors youu use, I love your sensibility, your patters, the combinations, everything. They're just so amazing. I try to open them soooo carefully so not to tear them apart. Love it it love it love it. You're so talented, believe me. Inside you told me about yourself and some memories. I read it at my grandma's house and I felt so cozy reading it. I replied to it with what I found around. I sometimes stay at her house when I have to work. I'm gonna try some day doing those cool patters with those stickers and lovely stuff you sent me, hopefully when the festive season ends. I did something similar during october and I found it so relaxing, problem is that when I decorate postcards, I'm left with no space left to writem, haha. I'm planning on buying stamps online, but still can't make up my mind, there are so many and so pretty! I actually have to write a mail to the woman in charge of them at the office and indicate a lot of things manually. Your mails always make me smile and cheer me up Thank you so much.
u/LeeElla Lol, thank you for the Raoc birthday postcard. There you told me about the kid that cried for not being able to blow the candles. Lol, some kids are like that. When I was little I hated that if kids did that, some poeple would light them up again and have them blow them too, and I was horrified because they were not the birthday boys... like stealing the birthday wishes! How dare them! Now I'd be annoyed to see blatant spoiliage of kids. Dunno if I'm using the correct verb, please someone correct me, haha. I'm amazed the wax seal made it safe and sound! it's so cool. I learnt that word finally: Hidrangea. They're one of my favorite flowers. They bring me sooo many childhood memories. So many houses grew them in the south and I loved seeing these flowers made of lots of tiny flowers. My grandma also loved putting some in the dinner table. I also used to like playing hide and seek behind them... until I got scared of spiders. Lol, grandma used to have an apt in a town that actually means "place of spiders" in native's language, hahaha, and I went there many summers. Now it's become so pupular, and badly regulated, they destroyed it. They covered it in buildings and apartments and casinos and entertainment, but the town's capacity was never improved, so now you need 3 hours just to get to the other nearest town, and it's a nightmare, when it used to be 20 -30 mins in this tiny curved road. Also, thanks for the washi and the pretty stamps, I love them so much! what is this one of ""Strawberry driving?"" lol. I wonder what that is supposed to mean, haha
u/Lonelytwatwaffle Yoo!! got your Random-Random acts of cards-card for being random. Thank you so much! I still like doing it. I like thinking that randomizers are like destiny telling me who needs a smile and some love sent from here. I ADORE the dragon stamps you put, so adorable and pretty! Oh, right before quarantine we got a boiler (or heater) when we can set the temperature, so yay, that's how I discovered the wonders of green tea. I used to hate it, but that's because it was burnt! Wow. Quarantine discovery. I ended up liking tea so much, I use a french press to brew my tea, haha, so I get a full liter. So I'll be able to enjoy your tea now! Thank you so much! I also find it super funny all the labels and warnings and adjectives your American teas have, lol. ""Oh no! My tea has 14 mg of naturally occurring caffeine! But it's not coffee!!"". ""Oh no, I'm a pregnant breastfeeding woman, I need to consult my *healthcare practitioneer * (lol, what a long name) to drink tea, or I won't be legible for suing the traditional medicinals makers done by herbalists""."" I'm gonna OPEN this TAMPER EVIDENT-MOISTURE PROOF WRAPPED Tea Bag and POUR freshly boiled water in it. COVER it, STEEP it for 10 mins and SQUEEZE it to ENJOY 3-4 cups daily."" Is this bag telling me me how many I have to drink per day?? Wait... do I have to repeat this process 3-4 per day with this single bag??. ROFL. Oh gosh, I'm enjoying this too much. What the hell. So thanks for this HERBAL SUPPLEMENT, with *daily values not established for organic green tea"" and 0 calories!! Hahahahaa. Did you feel worn after scrutinizing all the offers to make this batch of cards? That was quite a nice thing you did. Also, thanks for the sticks and washi, I like the summer vibe they have, I'm going to take them to my vacations.
Edit: The mail didn't lose it. It was me. It got burried in my depressive mess and finding it during this time I haven't got any mail was like getting mail again. Such a huge adrenaline rush, it was awesome. I think life holds these surprises for the moments we need them the most.
u/ninajyang u/shadesoflanternhill Oh wow guys! I had forgotten you guys met! How was is? What did you do together? Oh wow, can't believe it was this same year. Such a weird year. I thought it was going to be the year of the meetups... so many were happening back then! And I was about to do some myself once in Australia and Asia xD. Well, I'm glad to know I have a spare bed in Japan waiting for me now, haha. And a bigger fridge to store a yummy cake I could bake, so you can try it, 'cause you must. Nina, have you set up your next destinations once all this is over? The only one I have for sure is Europe 2023 with friends... and if I can try and stay longer, the better. I actually wish I could go there next year, but who knows!
u/talkingroses Thank you for your adorable little crab postcard with a review of Percy Jackson. I was thinking in seeing if I could find it in the library, but then I remembered my card got expired and I'm not a student anymore so.... I'll have to check other ways of getting my hands on it. (I dun wanna read it in spanish.... so many things get lost in translation sometimes). I can't wait to be able to send to Australia again. Man, who'd have thought? I'd be living there right now if nothing of this had happened.
u/vickiiiie (x3) I'm happy to know my test postcard made it your way the other day, and that mail is working again, because I once promised to try to write the “Rat” Character once I got this cool year of the rat postcard, where you told me it was the hardest character of the zodiac. Challenge accepted! I hope I don't horrify you with all my aberrations xD It looks like a rat skiing. I also loved the cool red envelope with cute stickers and, no kidding, I spent like 5 minutes just staring at the envelope and its texture. Do they have a specific purpose there? The flowers are the same of the rat in the envelope (love it), do those flowers mean something too? Thank you so much for such nice mail!
Also, thank you so much for the 29th of February postcard! You also added a cute cactus seal. So cool, I wanna try one day doing them. I actually wondered.... if you work in February, any February, if you get paid monthly, are they actually paying you more for that month every year? Or they adjust that? Hmmm.... Well, here February is the month were almost everyone, or at least the government, takes vacations, so nobody is worrying too much about that. Well... you might get a day or less of vacations. We didn't because we only took 2 weeks this February, and it got cut short because my cousin decided to get married the 1st, so pretty much everyone in the family had to start their vacations 2 days late, since you spend a whole day traveling. We usually try to travel the 31st. How long you were quarantined? Many people here are still working at home, and I just recently started working in the kitchens again. It's been fun, and I like cooking with a mask on. Feels more clean.
And least but lot last, The first HK RAoC meetup card with u/vickiiiie and u/chikadatte !! I loved it so much when I got it! Oh, gosh, crazy times back then! Haha, I wonder why nobody guessed you were going to an American dinner for bacon and eggs. I sent some test cards both your ways, but it seems they haven't made it yet. I wanna give it another try. I need to know if you both are keeping your same addresses though, I have some unsent mail waiting for you guys. Oh, I was sooo looking forward to traveling to HK next year, but my trip to Australia and then Asia got.... cancelled until... who knows when and who knows if that's ever going to work out. Who knows? Maybe the future awaits me with some surprises I haven't imagined yet. Maybe it's better that what I was going to do. Who knows? We'll see.

Hey all,
Putting a feeler out there for my G14. My work has just surprised me by providing me with a laptop so regretfully selling this beautiful little machine! I purchased it 3 weeks ago from Best Buy with the intention of using it for work and light gaming. It has seen very light use and sat connect to AC power on my desk for its whole life. I still have the original box and packaging, as well as a blank warranty card that hasn't been filled out.
Images: https://imgur.com/a/wqIk6Zm
It has the following specs:
This is an incredible little laptop. Light, well-built, super powerful, great battery life.
Currently retails for $1699 at Best Buy. Looking to get $1600 shipped, or meetup locally in Vancouver.

2020.10.21 19:41 VancouverCoffeeSnob VancouverCoffeeSnob here. 5 years ago /r/vancouver helped me create a blog. Since we last spoke I’ve been on TV 3 times with a bag on my head, failed to create a podcast and MC'd a latte art throwdown WITHOUT any allegations of sexual misconduct. Here’s are some great cafes that opened in 2020.

Hi everyone, it’s me, that opinionated moron that posts about coffee shops every so often. It’s been 5 years since I started my blog that I, quite frankly, could not have done without the help of people in this sub, so thank you.
2020 has been bloody awful for coffee shops, but despite that, there have been some really amazing shops open up. Here’s a list of them (not all 2020, fight me). If you visit, spend big and tip big, they all need the money right now.
And if you happen to see a guy with a paper bag on his head inside one of them, feel free to leave me alone. IRL Redditors scare me.
I’ll be around all day to answer any questions about why I keep shooting off bear bangers around downtown at night.
EDIT: WTF was I thinking forgetting this. Here's a picture of my new cat, Alan McCatface
Cafe Portrait
I guarantee you’ve not seen a shop like this before! It’s COVERED in paintings. Even on the tables.
It’s also one of the only places in town to get a decent Turkish style coffee. It’s family run and they also bake all their own food, which is really tasty. Protip: Get involved with their creampuff bar!
Coho Coffee
Filling the gap in the area that Agro left, Coho has a full espresso/batch brew program as well as a rotating selection of food from the MASSIVE commissary kitchen in the back of the building. It’s REALLY varied and every single thing I’ve tried coming out of this place has been taste bud rocking.
Craft Cafe
This one is slightly older than this year, but I want to mention it as A) this shop is truly a gem in the whole Lower Mainland scene and B) it’s still fairly new.
First off, the selection of coffee here is so insanely high end that I’d put this head to head with something like Revolver any day. It’d probably win too. They bring in the best coffee from around the world (sometimes at $100+ a bag) and sell it at pretty much cost, so people can experience the best the world has to offer. You’d also be mad not to try their grilled cheeses there. The lobster version is one of the best I’ve ever tasted, anywhere.
Enroute
This is a road bikers dream, as it’s part cafe, part hangout location, part bike mechanics.
They have a great selection of coffee from Phil and Sebastian as well as loads of space to socialize inside and out. But more importantly, a million spots to lock your bike and two million pairs of eyes making sure no one steals them (which they will brazenly try because Vancouver)
Fior Di Latte
Holy shit this place might have the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. It’s a food/gelato forward cafe in Burnaby Heights with coffee from Detour.
There are Purebread level amounts of pastries in their cabinet and more Gelato than I could count. But the sandwiches (which sell out before lunch most days) are really the crown jewel here. Keep your eyes out for their periodic pig roasts!
Harken
From the brains of the guy that created Aubade, this is a stylish and modern take on a cafe-roastery.
They have a, quite frankly, insane vegan-only food menu, with an equally insane lineup of house roasted coffee. This is a great place to sit and chat to the barista about your coffee.
Kafkas
Honestly, this place might be the craziest design of any coffee shop I’ve ever seen. It’s kind of a mix between 50’s art deco, modern woods and Gastown brick.
It’s incredible. They’ve also really started to up their coffee game recently, with some really creative new drinks (Horchata anyone?).
Nemesis Polygon
Nemesis very rapidly became one of the most popular cafes in Vancouver and this time they set their eyes on Lower Lonsdale.
It’s a bright, stylish and well-designed venue with a heavy focus on baked goods from their “Dope Bakery”. Coffee is varied, as they curate the best beans from around the world to sling as espresso, batch brew and pour over.
Pennyroyal Coffee
I think this might be one of the few shops I’ve seen around town that sling Rocanini Coffee (other than Rocanini of course). It’s run by an amazingly friendly team of folks who focus on solid coffee and are slowly expanding their baking game.
It’s a really well designed space that lends itself to meetups as well as being able to sit at a bar and chat to the barista.
Palate Kitchen
This venue is absolutely breathtaking. It’s an old heritage building that’s been converted into an enormous brunch spot downtown. It’s got the usual lineup of Palate Coffee as well as a huge and varied brunch menu from their chef that was on Top Chef Dubai.
This got the highest score I’ve ever given out on the VCS blog.
Prado Southlands
So there’s a new Agri-Hood’ in Tsawwassen and it’s got a Prado in the middle of it. It’s a beautiful wood building with a spacious and stylish cafe in the middle.
The staff are excellent, the coffee (from 49th) is the quality you’d expect from any Prado but this one has a slightly extended food menu, complete with pizzas!
United Strangers
North Van is really becoming hot shit in the coffee world these days, but you don’t have to turn left over the Ironworkers any more! Take a right and you’ll end up at this amazing coffee shop with a solid lineup of coffee from Pallet.
There’s a ton of treats, loads of seating and they seem to be getting really popular with the road bike crowd. Oh, and the husband and wife owners are just about the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.
Whisk Matcha
They do have coffee (From Moving Coffee) but it’s a Matcha-focused cafe overall. I’m not a green-stuff expert but goddamn the drinks I had were delicious and the service was incredible. Try the Hojicha Milkshake, it’s mind-blowing.
Winston
Blink and you’ll miss this one, as it’s tucked away in a row of shops on Lonsdale (look for the patio and outside micro garden. It’s from the same owner of KOFFIE, one of my favourite DT cafes.
It’s a HUGE venue, despite looking subtle from the outside, with a lineup of coffee from all over BC (they’re one of the only places in town that have Bright Jenny, from Kelowna, on bar). Their brunch game is extremely high end and they’re becoming really well known for their wine evenings.

2020.10.18 17:37 Dracomortua To Do List

LAST REDRAFTED: OCTOBER 21st 2020.
1. Client & Customer Groups:
2. Plan A and Plan B
  • Plan A: 'Tales & Telary' OR 'Tales & Telos': "Giving fun, story and meaning to role-playing games. Your players will love to invest in your game when it is worth their time and their interest."
  • makes use of a Premise Chain in stages: BackStory, Origin, Plot-Building, Climax and Denouement.
  • Focal-tension-problem-challenge-goal: Each point can either progress or 'twist'. Developer must pick one to three tension-foci. The player-group is a focus. Thus, each of these foci can either work with &/or against the player (or one another).
  • Develops characters based on Coin Flipside / Flaws & Features: a character's weakness are their strengths inverse.
  • Landscapes, architecture and any Eyeview Scenario is a 'Place'. Any sentient being is a 'Being'. Any noun ('Person, Place &/or Thing') is a Character.
  • To build a story: take your StoryChain (linear premise set) and add Characters (Beings &/or Places).
  • give mechanics to build amazing Premises, Characters &/or Locations
  • Plan B: BeForged: "Orienting yourself in the tidal forces of your genetics, associations and relations so as to get the right life that you choose - for everyone's good."
  • Note the 40%/40% rule: we are DOMINATED by genetics & associations. We are pre-programmed to serve social circumstance before ourselves (often to our deaths). Our genetics (40%) determines most of psychology. Our association-socialization does another 40%. These two things gang up on us and determine what choices we are allowed to make. Examples: six million Jewish people went willingly into prisons and then often willingly into gas chambers. The survivors would willingly help deal with the remains of their relatives. Had the Jewish people fought against this AT EVERY STEP, it would have been certain disaster for the Nazi powers.
  • Contemporary examples abound on social conformity. No one really wants a monochrome car! Black, white or grey ('silver'), how dull? No one WANTS to work 40 hours a week. No one WANTS the top 1% to have 60% of the wealth. Etc.
  • Habitual subserviance is also heavily documented. No one WANTS to be a smoker, alcoholic, drug-abuser, wife-beater &/or dropout from society.
  • Genetic subserviance is also heavily documented via twin studies. This dominates the strength of the Big Five.
The hard-easy part: to use habituation, genetic forces &/or socialization to introduce, develop and manufacture habit-lifestyles people want. Conversely, to reduce the power that the Military / Capitalist-Businesses &/or Religions have on individual choice. Also, to assist those who are genetically designed to be marginalized - how to have them 'fit in' without losing their style, character and superpowers.
3. The Interview - Feedback Process
  • Explained in October 21st Session
  • Ask 'short' questions for 15-35 minutes - answers are 5-30 words / beyond Yes &/or No / no stories, similes, like &/or as / do not get distracted
  • NO descriptions of YOUR products: They must NOT drink from the firehose of your product.
  • Permission to use Elevator Pitches (E-pitches): 'my product - in less than 30 seconds' e.g. 'We orient people on their choices, allowing them to gain habits to re-forge their lifestyles.' or 'we add stories to role-playing to increase depth and meaning to any game you play'
  • Provide THREE options for your service: 'Competition A, Competition B - and if you like, use our product.'
  • Let them suss out your product. You give them tasty snacks / hors d'oeuvres / sushi bites / lines of crack / samples. Make them do the heavy lifting, sales is Too MuCH LiKE WoRK otherwise.
  • You are there to solve a problem. They need to figure out if they have that problem. You're not in the business of Selling Problems. You ARE in the business of Giving Solutions.
1. Make a To Do List:
  • suggested: make this an app for my phone
Decide On One Job BetterThanCostco® &/or 3 meaningful jobs
  • Outdoor tourguide from PowerToBe seems possible, mobile jobdeveloper seemed interesting, some kind of sales-instruction in fitness seems like a distant third
  • hard to get that mix between mindless and person-contact-cheeriness
  • meaningful jobs: lifecoach, cult leader, D&D game developer, suicidal-depression gatekeeper
2. Accounting / Marketing / Product
  • finish off product outline then plan how to market this stuff
  • Plan A (StoryGamer) still needs a name. Plan B (BeForged) seems to have one.
3. D&D groups in Vancouver
4. Deliverable / EndProducts for GrimmTale & BeForged
  • no idea what it is supposed to look like: is it a sheet of paper? a website? a youtube video? medium? message?
  • no idea what it is supposed to do to the target-audience-customer - educate? entertain? process-relation-communication?
Extended List - Long Term Plans
  • Operating Names & Logos both Plan A ('Tales & Telary') and Plan B (going as *'BeForged')
Plan A
  • Premise Randomizer Chain The list of premises and counter-premises. May also need a list of tension-foci.
  • List of character trait-motivatiors - how to write a character easily and randomly. flaws &/o= features!
  • Basic Limbo Offworld Structure - a genuinely magical world that works better than Dragonlance or such.
Plan B
  • complete documentation of all the research, one 500 page explaining one to three documents each run
  • elevator pitch: WtF does it do? How?
"Choose & Change your life via Positive Peer Pressure. Changes your body shape, fitness, diet, temperament, attitude, perspective, job, career and life. It starts very small and works its way into habits."

2020.10.11 04:33 helloworld_x How difficult is it to make friends in Vancouver?

Planning a move to Vancouver from Toronto and been reading up threads and videos on how it's like living in Vancouver and the comment that stands out among others is how people are really cold and standoff, and it's really hard to make friends.
When I first moved to Toronto not knowing anyone, I felt the same and went through months in solitude. If it wasn't for me attending social meetups, I wouldn't have got to know the people I know now, but even then I feel after you graduate and get into work life, creating solid relationships isn't easy unless you're a super social person. You'll meet tons of people but only a handful of them (if you're lucky enough) would become your good friends let alone best.
With Covid around, I see it becoming an issue for the time being but even then it's hard to make new friends by attending meetups? If so, I'm already concerned. What do young professionals do who moved here for work in particular?

2020.09.29 18:15 fireonwings Looking for PoC lgbtq spaces

Hey all,
It's me again asking yet another question. I am looking for PoC lgbtq spaces in Canada( ideally) and possibly on the westcoast. ( i know of sher Vancouver Canada, but that feel like a youth space?) Ideally they would have meetups, opportunity to join blook clubs/ go to talks? ( i checked the meet-up app). I am also open to PNW in the US.
Looking to find more like-minded people to geekout with, find new interests but not looking to date.
Regards, Fireonwings

2020.09.29 05:20 onsite-reflexology Going to check out Edmonton Housing Market for one month. Any tips questions?

Hello guys. I am from Surrey BC. I am going to Edmonton to see housing market and get a feel of life there. Once I finish my education next year I plan to move there to avoid insane prices that are in Metro Vancouver.
Anyways, do you guys have any tips? Any questions that you want me to find out? I am gonna be joining one meetup there. I would like to connect with someone from Edmonton. And maybe we can chat or get coffee and talk about real estate.

2020.09.27 00:21 OhmoebaTheGamer Players in the Pacific Northwest?

Do we have any other folks in the Pacific Northwest playing? My Gaming community is starting to slowly come back into the DayZ world after spending much of the summer playing stuff like Star Citizen and Hell Let Loose. But, as is usual for us, when fall starts, we tend to switch back to our zombie title rotation of DayZ, 7 Days to Die, and Project Zomboid. One reason we've tended to look for folks who live in the region is that we've often in the past done IRL meetups around the area in places like Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and occasionally Spokane. In the past, it was mostly just 'bar citizen' style meet-ups but obviously with COVID they're not as common anymore. However, slowly - things are starting to open back up and social distancing is something people are learning to do while still being able to hang out - just with a little space between us and/or outdoor accomodations. The most creative one we did three years ago was an IRL hangout at one of our members' cabins in Western Washington where we hung out, roasted hot dogs, drank a bunch of booze and threw some grub on the grill (and yes - we even had a couple of good ol' Heinz cans of beans brought with us to complete the atmosphere lol)
I'd like to get something like this going again this year so we're looking around for more folks who live in the area to kinda revive the zombie-survival segment of our community. We're all PC gamers - tend to play mil-sim style when we're all jamming out on DayZ together and in the past our numbers were quite significant in the old days (we were last very active in DayZ way back in 2014-2017 so it's been a while) and we'd like to revive that a little bit again.
So if anyone is 1. In the area (BC Canada, Washington, Oregon, Northern Cali, Idaho, Montana etc.) and 2. Is interested in playing with others in the region as well as potentially hanging out IRL for board game nights, possible camping trips and so forth, please do reach out? Would be great to find more folks in the area who play the same titles we do and would be down for IRL sessions every now and then. (Socially distanced, responsible IRL stuff that is!)
Thanks, survivors!

Something nice that has happened to you in the past month

bgro:
I reserved a rental car months in advance and when I showed up, they told me I would need to wait two hours for the car to be ready and I think they were expecting me to be an asshole about it because they were kind of preemptively dickish about it. Instead, I just went home, waited two hours, came back, got my car and then because I had been cool about it, they comped me about $100 for having to wait. The whole reservation only cost $220 so that was pretty cool.
Cory:
Got a real nice performance evaluation from my job. I've been unsure about the job ever since I switched to remote work, just feeling extremely unmotivated and not very efficient, so it was good to hear that it's mostly in my head.

Ruairi:
I dunno never really argued with my parents. gonna have to take the L on this one
des:
I can't think of anything specific :/
:/
bgro:
It's been a long time since I argued with my parents. I would guess it was some time when I was still living at home and I was just being standoffish and unappreciative of the fact that my parents were housing/feeding me. I would barely talk to them and just stay in my room and I dont remember having a specific conversation about it, but eventually I realized that I was the one who needed to change my attitude because really my parents weren't doing anything wrong.
pjd:
That I wouldn't regret spending time with them and the rest of the family. Now that im out on my own i do regret all the times i passed up spending time with them. If i could go back i would have spent as much time with them as possible

Lianne La Havas's newest album - definitely my AotY pick for 2020 so far. I just love everything about it.
desmond:
I've been watching a lot of No Reservations and Bourdain just has such an interesting view of the world. He's so self-aware when he goes to poorer countries, and, while he initially comes across as somewhat pompous, he's actually incredibly kind and complimentary of the people who cook for him. I'm really sad that he killed himself and I think about it a lot when I'm watching.
bgro:
Really can't say enough good things about Schitt's Creek. It's hilarious and heartwarming and I think it might even be the best Catherine Keener has ever been in anything. Dan Levy and Annie Murphy somehow make their hilariously entitled characters actually redeemable and you root for their success. It's just a good-hearted show that consistently makes me laugh.
Ruairi:
the 5th season of Lucifer. Nobody I know has watched it so I haven’t been able to talk about it
pjd:
I started reading a series called Lightbringer by Brent Weeks. I just finished reading the first book in the series "The Black Pirsm" and was blown away. Here is the plot summary for the book In a world where magic is tightly controlled, the most powerful man in history must choose between his kingdom and his son in the first book in the epic NYT bestselling Lightbringer series.
Guile is the Prism. He is high priest and emperor, a man whose power, wit, and charm are all that preserves a tenuous peace. Yet Prisms never last, and Guile knows exactly how long he has left to live.
When Guile discovers he has a son, born in a far kingdom after the war that put him in power, he must decide how much he's willing to pay to protect a secret that could tear his world apart.

Describe your perfect Sunday morning

iama:
I am awoken early by sunlight streaming through my window. Nonetheless, I feel well rested. I lie in bed for a short while basking in the soft warmth of the sheets and the soft sunlight filling the room. Stretching, I rise. I shuffle into the kitchen, where bacon and eggs are being cooked by my housemate. I help get breakfast ready, and then I eat my breakfast at the table while sipping coffee. After breakfast, I prepare for the day's activities.
desmond: My internal clock actually allows me to sleep past 8:30, I get up and get a breakfast sandwich to bring back home and eat on my porch with some tea. I watch a show or play some video games for a while and take a nap around lunchtime.
Ruairi:
It’s raining/drizzling outside. I wake up next to my hot wife/girlfriend and play some Michael Bublé. Then I put on a fire in our fireplace. Start making breakfast. We’re talking pancakes, french toast, and cinnamon rolls. My hot wife walks into the kitchen wearing a Nick Castellanos jersey and nothing else. Life is good. we eat our breakfast and drink champagne because why waste the good taste of champagne with orange juice. We eat our breakfast and drank our champagne out on our balcony watching the rain
lbon:
sleepign until 10 am, then sitting outside eating yoplait yogurt listening to the birds
bnavis:
i wake up at like 10 am, mom made eggs or some shit, watch a terrible TLC show, probably 4 weddings, for a couple hours.
dylan:
turn on the record player, have a nice breakfast, and have an aggressive amount of sex while i hear the church let out from across the street
bgro: I like to be very active on Saturday and then do literally nothing on Sunday. So...sleep in, shower, play video games all day, watch some sports, watch the latest episode of a good HBO show that evening, go to bed.
Jigsawkane:
sleep until noon, get up at 1 and have a homemade bacon and egg mcmuffin while watching baseball.com
http://www.baseball.com/
pole:
I do not wake up until the afternoon
cory:
Wake up with no alarm, make some coffee, make a delicious brunch, go for a little walk down to the Point.
pjd:
I wake up, sun is shinning, birds are chirping. Christmas is snuggled up to me snoring away like the giant squish she is. A wonderful smell makes its way into my room, its the smell of chocolate chip pancakes. My wife has prepared my favorite breakfast with chocolate milk as a beverage. I blow bubbles into my chocolate milk because i am a child. In this perfect world i have quit my job and no longer have to work Sundays. I go outside, get some fall yardwork done. Leaves raked into a big pile to be given that good suck by the leaf blower. Then 1 PM rolls around. Its football time. My mother and grandmother who are both massive Eagles fans have come to my house to watch the game. The Eagles blow out the Cowboys, Carson Wentz throws for 300+ yards and 5 Touchdowns. My wife prepares my favorite dinner, Chicken Alfredo. We have a nice red wine with dinner as well. Some of our friends join us for dinner as is Sunday tradition and then games afterwards. Many laughs are shared in the home my wife and I have built. Everyone goes home happy and I fall asleep finally content with the life i have built
i am really deep into this however Patrick, dinner and falling asleep for the night are not a part of Sunday Morning
+3 Ruairi, +2 iama, +1 pjd no minuses, your mornings are all very lovely

2020.08.30 02:53 techhelp2 How to get rated in Canada (Vancouver BC)?

Hi, not sure if this is the place to ask this, but basically title.
I assume I would have to travel - after the virus - to tournaments outside BC or in the States? Where can I find info/location on these events? And any advice/info from other players that have done this?
And one more question for any Vancouver players, where is the Chess scene at?
It seems kind of non-existent or I'm probably looking in the wrong places. There are some schools and clubs, but seem to advertise/cater to children, some university clubs, but I'm not a student anymore. I think there was a Meetup group until recently but looks like they've sadly disbanded.
